I'm learning to make battlemaps on the fly. I agonize over the content of maps, so that's probably a good thing.
We didn’t need one. One of the players almost got himself killed without any combat happening at all and after that it was just improvising and the party somehow made their way through (and even succeeded in the end. I was quite surprised)

That just means the players think your plot is boring
