Questions about this community

What's the difference between this and !buyeuropean@feddit.uk ?
Are we allowed to submit messages in German here? (and/or other languages?)
Is this community specifically about the EU? (no british and swiss products?)--

In terms of content, there is none. Because of the decentralized nature of Lemmy there can exist multiple communities or even people with the same name on different instances. Hence, why links to communities and people have to include the instance.
English is the language most people in Europe can understand, so you are encouraged to use it in an international community like this one.
Personally, I'd say European not just EU products in general are OK, but on the other hand import regulations and taxes can be tricky. Schengen makes a lot of things easier. This is something the mods have to decide.
- I'd say produchts/services recommended in the buyfromEU community, should be from EU (Somebody from EU wants to benefit from the single domestic market while avoiding foreign products), while in buyEuropean they are allowed to be from the entirety of Europe (For someone from e.g. UK wanting to avoid non-european products).
  
  Well, I you think about the question with the foundations the other day, it is not so easy any more. There are non-European products (like open-source products and services) that in the long run help to get rid of non-European products 😅 At this point we are discussing a lock in. E.g. if you use cloud and office products that force you to store data on foreign servers.
  Another example could be Threema, a swiss messenger, where you only need a small ID instead of a phone number. It is well known for their encryption and that their software was audited. So, they are working as transparent as a company could. In my personal and business life, I would still recommend them (as well as Signal) for everyday Joe.
