Huh, I was thinking tongs for hard boiled eggs.

Or for grabbing a hot chunk from the fireplace. I think in pre-electric days they'd do that to quickly heat something up or maybe light a cigar, etc.

How is it used? Is it for scooping the meat out of the shell, or for scooping up the entire snail, shell and all?
