all joking aside. im curious, are these improvised armor effective for what they do? russia seems to be doing it for a while now and im guessing it should have some merit at the least
The sheds are very effective because they basically negate the power of shaped charges by detonating the explosive away from the main hull. When they first started fielding them, I would see videos of 5+ drones being used against a single turtle tank. Those... Spikes? Tree branches? seem to be doing double duty of detonating the munition away from even the external armor for additional protection.
On the other hand, I've also seen them simply bypass the shed and hit directly at the base of the turret and k kill that bitch in one shot. I haven't kept up well but I personally haven't seen any recent drone vs turtle videos so I couldn't say to what extent Russia is still mad maxing their vehicles and how effective it is. It may just be that the Russians simply don't have enough drone countermeasure and are doing everything they can to not get barbecued in their vehicles, but overall:
TL;DR: it is effective for direct his on the external armor, but overall it depends on how well the tank is covered and the skill of the pilot to bypass the armor.
