The Winter Sale isn't over until January 2nd, so I might buy some more games before it ends. Problem is, I own most of the games on the Steam front page, so finding new and interesting games is getting difficult.
The talos principle 1 & 2. Playing through 1 now, and it's excellent. Some of the puzzles are complex, but most can be solved in 5-10 minutes and give a nice "ah-ha!" moment. It reminds me of portal 2, but with a heavier and more ambiguous story about the nature of life and consciousness. Highly recommended.
Also been playing some Dome keeper and Peglin. Both also excellent in their own ways.
I don’t use steam too much, but I did get Minishoot Adventures, and it’s excellent.
It’s like if Zelda was a bullet hell. The base difficulty isn’t too hard, but it’s challenging enough. And you get to explore and do dungeons. It’s really fun.
Some friends and I gift each other some games each year, and I got Cyberpunk. I'll wait for the new GPU releases before I play it though, since I want to check it out with path tracing.
Also, some Rogue-likes. The latest Vampire Survivors DLC, Bloodshed, and AK-xolotl.
A bunch of EA games they‘re practically giving away considering the 90% discounts (Mass Effect etc.), and a bunch of indie puzzle games (Cats Organized Neatly etc.) as well as some steeply discounted Devolver Digital games (Hotline Miami 2 etc.).
I think I paid the price of one full price game (70 bucks nowadays) for like 20+ titles, but also yet again lost the battle of the ratio of games purchased vs games played this year… Damn you, Gaben!
Now I‘ll just wait for Monster Hunter Wilds which is easily my most anticipated game at the moment and probably the first triple-A game I‘ll be getting on launch since Elden Ring.
I like boomer shooters and immersive sims, so I picked up Selaco and Fallen Aces. Both are good so far. Selaco has some maze-like levels that can be a bit annoying, but the gunplay is very fun and the level of polish and detail is very high. Fallen Aces is awesome for the amount of ways it gives you to deal with the goons.
I still haven't worked my way through the deals I got during last year's sales, and despite that I bought another dozen games on GOG this black week. So I'm trying to stay away from the Steam winter sale this year lest my backlog becomes such a behemoth it gives me uncontrollable anxiety.
I bought Reka and Baldurs Gate 3, haven't played BG3 yet but Reka is fun! It's buggy so I'm holding off on playing more until it's a bit more stable but I'm excited. Been playing a bit of my backlog though before jumping into BG3.
I haven't bought anything. We've still got another week to go though, so I might pick up something. I'm a patient gamer so I'm still waiting for Cyberpunk and expansion to come down in price. Otherwise there isn't a whole lot that interests me right now.
I'm mostly waiting on updates for a few games I already own: Balatro is getting a big update in the new year, Enshrouded, Against the Storm, and Timberborn. I should get back in to BG3 too. I bought it on release and put 20 hours in and then just... stopped playing.
Finally playing Battlefield 1 and Battlefront 1, cause $3 is a good price to wait for. Only for the single player. I don't care about multi-player. Streamed from my PC to Steam Deck is great.
Bustafellows (95% sale). I have a huge backlog of !otomegames@ani.social to play, and Bustafellows is not on it. But it was also like $2 so… worst comes to worst, I play the game some day, hate it, and my purchase serves to signal "hey, English-speaking ladies who do not live in Japan also like otome games, localizing them is a good business choice". Which means more otome for me! I have heard of so many Japan-only games that sound so cool but also I cannot play them because I won't understand a damn thing the characters say, and they are usually super story-based.
The Magic Circle. I forget what recommendation list I saw it on to be honest, but it still seems to hold up as something I would like and think is cool.
I like !tycoon@lemmy.world games, so I was going to grab Parkitect, saw it in a bundle with more tycoon games, grabbed the bundle to also collect Project Hospital and Game Dev Tycoon. (I already had Parkasaurus.)
I also like automation games. I think its community might be on a dead instance… maybe I'll make a new one. Finally grabbed myself Factorio (will never be on sale) along with Satisfactory (finally out of Early Access. I will never buy an EA game, I will always wait for it to exit EA).
Finally, Sun Haven. Stardew Valley fan, from what I have seen of SH it seems like something I'd like, and price dropped.
Aside from Factorio, everything I grabbed was on sale. Aside from Satisfactory, all the sales were 50% or more.
a few games i pirated earlier in the year, heh, and Pathologic 2, Lunacid (as of a few seconds ago), Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 (to check out the openrct2 mod), dwarf fortress, & Odallus the Dark Call.
Saints Row 2022 Not actually that bad honestly. I think we were too harsh on them. It's still fun, the characters are likeable, and it's got all the stuff you expect for a saints row game.
CP Phantom Liberty Not gonna be able to get this played for a bit but I'm hopeful.
Anemoiapolis I like backrooms and I got Pools a few weeks ago but got kind of bored so hopefully this one is better since it has actual puzzles.
I'm spoilering these. You know what that means. Don't fucking @ me.
spoiler
Mage Kanade's Futanari Dungeon Quest
Midnight Castle Succubus
Tower and Sword: Succubus These last two are part of a series, and I already played Castle in the Clouds. Even without the porn it's still a competent side scroller action platformer so I have good hopes for these two.
I didn't pick up any of the deep discount items but I did pick up a few items on my wishlist. I picked up Mouthwashing, WitchSpring R, Little Kitty Big City, the Nonory game collection and Okami HD. I already have the last two but I wanted them in the Steam library so I can play them on my deck.
I ended up getting Metal Gear Rising: Revengence, Sonic Adventure 2, Prey, Daemon X Machina, and Dragon Age 2. I have no regrets in my eclectic sale impulses hahaha
In total, the only 2 games I've gotten that I know we're part of the sail were Sonic Origins (with DLC) and Sonic Mania (with DLC). Would be playing them more if I wasn't having to message Steam back and forth trying to get an issue with my deck fixed, though.
Lots of CRPG and TRPG. A few experimental indie RTS. And a few indie auto-battlers. Plus a few casual co-op shooters. Oh, and some indie horror as well.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Caves of Qud or Path of Achra (I got them both). Aren't we hipster enough?
I took Age4 Sultans Ascend DLC and Cossacks 3 in previous sale before winter because I ended up with a bit more money. Somehow I didn't spent much money as usual in October, cook food on my own instead of buying cooked food.
I don't really have any other wishlist now. Instead I really want to make my own rts game but I have not been able to be productive nor playing Cossacks 3. But I did spent a bit more time with Age4.
I recently learned about "From the depths" because of Martincintopants Video about it. Yesterday evening I saw, that it was 50% off and bought it immediately.
