  • Huh. It's anecdotal, but here is something weird that actually happened to my band, might possibly be related.

I got a cheap huawei smart band, used it daily for about 2 years. One day my cat chewed on it when I left it on my desk. I replaced the band, but left old one on my pile of crap I do not have a heart to throw away. About a year later, when I've been tidying up my place, I stumbled upon it again. On each and every hole my cat made on the surface of the band there was a droplet of some oily substance. Looked like morning dew on a leaf. It got me thinking about the possibility of this liquid seeping through the surface day after day while we are wearing those gadgets. Perhaps we don't notice, because we wash ourselves with them still on? The fact that it took a long time for the droplets to manifest either means that seeping is a very slow process, or maybe the droplets evaporate fast enough to seemingly slow their growth? I wonder if the substance was indeed harmful.

I always had some burn-like spots on my skin under the band while I was wearing it daily. Always chalked it up to water I never wiped from under there after washing my hands or taking a shower causing this skin dryness, but after that I'm not so sure anymore.
