Again… this was the predictable response from republicans. They also failed to remember that they had a literal orange clown in the oval office for a few days over the course of 2016-2020. So they themselves set the precedent
I find it funny that they call the democrats "coastal elites" and then are so up in arms when the "coastal elites" try and make things less "elite"
It makes perfect sense if you predefine literally everything a Democrat does as "wrong."
Substitute "member of an out-group" for the bonus point
Precedent is nothing more to them than a tool to keep democrats down. Show me the last time a republican respected precedent when there was nothing in it for them.
