Nothing is requiring employees to be in the office five days a week

CEO Carl Pei says remote work “is not compatible” with the company.

  • That headline is rather confusing. Then I realised that "Nothing" is a fricking company.

Also branding his stuff as Nothing phone/OS/ear is hilarious. Hilariously bad.

    • totally agree. this guy couldnt market his way out of a paper bag... like naming a social media server 'moist'

    • I think it's a bit of a stroke of genius on the article author's part, because it's a great double entendre the way it's written.

  • “I know this is a controversial decision that may not be a fit for everyone, and there are definitely companies out there that thrive in remote or hybrid setups,” he added. “But that’s not right for our type of business, and won’t help us fully realize our potential as a company.”

By comparison, Nothing’s demand for five-day office attendance may sting for employees who helped shape the company while embracing its founding work-from-home environment.

Besides calling people who want flexibility children, the company was founded as work from home even though that wasn't right for the type of company. Sounds like the CEO doesn't know how the company works.

  • Projection. Guys like this are admitting that they themselves are incapable of the discipline required for at home work and think no one else can either.

  • theres nothing i hate more than nothing nothing keeps me up at night i toss and turn over nothing nothing can cause a great big fight

  • Kinda predictable from a person who claimed their product (Phone 2a) has the best unboxing experience, despite bundling an USB cable to it only.

    • Can we please stop complaining about lack of chargers bundled with phones? If the phone is overpriced, then sure, maybe it's fair, but if the price of the charger is subtracted from the price of the phone, then that's the right thing to do, the charger can be bought separately if needed. Everybody has like a dozen USB chargers at home, it's standard now. No need to bundle e-waste.

      • "Old" chargers are USB-A. Bundled cables are USB-C to USB-C, so you have to buy a new charger for it, or an USB-A to USB-C cable.

Additionally within the same brand you can have cheap phones with full suite of accessories - a charger, a case and screen protector, but once you go higher with a price tag you get less in a box. Example: OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite, which is now just a brand of Oppo, comes with a charger, a case and a screen protector, while their higher end model Oppo Reno 12 Pro comes with just a screen protector.

Samsung went even a step further and started making their boxes thicker, suggesting it comes with a charger, but in reality it comes with just a cable inside. Forgot which model was it though, iirc one of their Galaxy M line.
