I mean, how serious are these surveys? I can see myself answering HTML is an STD as a joke.

  According to the Los Angeles Times, the study questioned more than 2300 adults and was conducted by vouchercloud.net, a coupon website that wanted to know how much tech jargon the public knows.

  I don't know, given the type of people who frequent "coupon websites," I wouldn't be that surprised if they were answering seriously.
- Probably not a joke but simply people answering multiple choice survey wrong because they don't know. Most likely answer is that most of those people simply have no clue about html instead
- Either it is a multiple-choice that the surveyor fucked up and put STD as an option. Or it is an open question and the "one in 10" is legit.

- Star wars is nerdy? One of the most popular theme parks in the world is star wars themed and they have multiple movies that are in the top 50 highest grossing of all time, ever.
  
  Star wars is general pop culture and one of the most successful and widely known fiction franchises of all time.
