Paramount agrees to merge with Skydance, bringing new ownership to the storied movie studio and CBS broadcast network long controlled by the Redstone family.
Skydance founder David Ellison (son of Oracle founder Larry Ellison) will lead the combined company as CEO, while (RedBird’s Jeff Shell, the former NBCUniversal CEO) will serve as president.
It's hard to characterize mergers of this type as good news, but if Skydance is actually going to be "creative-first", it might be the least-bad of the potential outcomes that have been in play over the last year or so.
