  • Harlan Crow - as in Clarence Thomas's completely non-influential benefactor??

Why would Crow give to West's campaign? Is he just hoping to have a spoiler for the dems or what?

    • Could be one of several things but it's not unheard of for politicians to get donations from seeming ideological opponents:

      • trying to get West to be a spoiler like how Richard Egan donated money to Ralph Nader in 2004 (Egan was a George W. Bush campaign donor and Bush's ambassador to Ireland)
      • simply wanting influence, like how a lot of billionaires will donate equally to Republicans and Democrats
      • an attempt to torpedo West's leftist credentials because campaign donations are public, and taking money from a conservative rich guy is a bad look for a leftist candidate. Kind of like a scheme Roger Stone pulled where he donated money to one of Nixon's republican rivals in the name of a socialist organization
  • Even combing these thoughts is gross, especially when the majority is whatever your petty bullshit is, but if you feel compelled then there's a non-word salad weirdo way to do it:

The genocide of Palestinians is morally unacceptable and must be resisted

A billionaire can give money to an anti-billionaire if they like. Not all their investments work out for them".

  • The tragic reaction of the people in Palestine was regrettable but understandable in much the same way that my eating my roommates last mallomar was predictable if unfortunate when one considers that she had left it for a week already and it was drying out. Nonetheless as someone who enjoys backpack rap from the early 2000s I will be buying her another box #onward
