Despite a nerve-wreaking buildup leading up to the vote on Wednesday (10 April) afternoon, and the final agreement to no one’s liking, the EU’s asylum and migration pact ultimately passed with a thin majority on certain parts of the package.
Now, we must make sure that what has been agreed to is fully implemented in all our Member States, and that implementation goes hand in hand with the respect for our shared humanity,” Parliament’s President Roberta Metsola said after the vote.
It is not a perfect solution, it is a compromise that we in the European Parliament are accepting with a heavy lump in our throats, but was absolutely necessary,” said one of the leading negotiators, Slovakian Socialist MEP Matjaz Nemec.

As it's from EU perspective, doesn't really cover the controversy, but good if you need a sales pitch of the legislation ;-).
My mistake, I thought you were looking for content and not for controversy. Being critical is good, but I'm not sure where you stan when you label an official democratic EU website, like the one from EP, as a "salespitch".
Well it's stating things in their most positive light. I was more looking at analysis about what the effects of the legislation potentially are then the people who created it telling me what a great job they did.

Sure, I can understand that, but it's probably hard to find a good one. The treaty leaves room for interpretation by memberstates. So depending on the implementation it will have it's effects. In due time we'll probably see.
Imo, the important bit here is that there finally is a much needed accord after all these years; and also, just before the expected rise of the far-right wing influence. So yes, it's good news.
At the end of the day it's a political choice between EP representatives Some are unhappy because it's too strict , others find it's too lean. Anyhow, there is an accord, and that's better then having none, and having (legal) uncertainties.
