Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is neck and neck with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for second place in the Iowa GOP primary, while former President Trump continues to hold a wide lead for…
If Repubs were smart they’d nominate Haley. There’s a LOT of people who can’t stand Trump or Trump lite (desantis) but would be willing to vote for Haley over Biden. I predict that if by some sort of miracle Haley turns into the presumptive Repub nominee Biden drops out and Newsom becomes the Dems nominee.
Newsom is a lot less likable than he appears. I'd rather go with Biden than Newsom. When people find out he did things like veto a bill that capped the price of insulin, he's going to be a lot more unpopular than he is now.
Biden at least has had empowering unions as his legacy and that is where the real base of democratic power has historically been from, it's where most progressive policies originally spawned and where future change might be demanded. He's setting up the future for a lot more collective action. But it remains to be seen if that's the right call. But it's not a bad tactical decision, it's one for the future.
Add to that his environmental green new deal policies in the infrastructure bill, and he hasn't been a bad president.

He has, and I'm glad for that. The stain for Biden blocking the Railroad union strike last year leaves bad taste in my mouth though.
It would have been one thing if Biden blocked the strike, but forced Railroad companies to adopt some of the basic demands (like paid sick time for goodness sake!). Instead he blocked the strike granting none of the workers demands and calls for rail safety. Yes, months later railroad workers did get a small number of sick days, but did so at other costs. The union was negotiating from a place of weakness because the railroad companies knew the union was left toothless by Biden.
Agreed. I’d also just really like to have a choice of someone who will be alive in 10 years to see the results of the policies they make. Given the two current front runners, that’s very unlikely.
