I've never played one of the DQM games before and I'm surprised how fun this one is. I don't usually enjoy monster fighting games but the fact that all four of your guys fight at the same time makes it feel like less management overhead. Its more about having the right team with the right talents and who you breed together than it is about what specific moves you use in each battle. There are also way more monsters than I anticipated, and I can't wait to get to some of the cooler looking knights/dragons/etc. If you are on the fence about this game I reccomend it!
They do some pretty cool things with that franchise. Dragon Quest Builders surprised me big time.
You build a town that gets increasingly more detailed. Yeah you can drop blocks down, but then if you put blocks in certain patterns you've created a specialized building. NPCs then use those building, and you've got a rpg town with different item shops and other stuff. All while defending it from monsters. And you go out and explore the world to find new materials to build new things with.
DQB was surprisingly good, yes. Back in the day when I contemplated buying it, I was skeptical at first (never liked Minecraft and the like) but in the end I had a total blast. It is incredible what some people manage to clobber together with "only" the building materials availiable in the game.
I bought DQB2 on the switch and it was so amazing, I really liked all the building features, the story itself was very annoying and the characters were pretty meh, but the game is still soo good, I really liked how you can make the NPCs build stuff for you via blueprints.
