Sky has won a significantly enhanced IPTV blocking order at the High Court in London. Sixteen pirate suppliers will soon become guinea pigs.

Sixteen well-known suppliers active in the UK pirate IPTV market have been selected by broadcaster Sky to star in a new phase of the company's ISP blocking program. A new order obtained at the High Court is technically an extension of an existing order won last year. However, with significant tweaks, upgrades and an extremely determined opponent, pirates may be about to face their toughest challenge yet.

I'm not sure why I'm subbed to this community, anymore. It's no longer advocacy; it's just a constant stream of news about successful attacks on the community.
It's funny; I'm not really into pirating, myself, but I sympathize with the cause. Browsing this sub is just doom scrolling, anymore.
- You're right, but from my pov.. this is good news for us to became more aware, to have a strong will create another alternatives or solutions together that offers better way than what we already got right now.
  I mean.. We are ethically / ilegally pirating right now, so imo this is normal news.

  I love your combo "ethically but illegally." There needs to be a term that means that. It applies to so much.
  
  It's always ethical to "steal" from greedy corporations. It's just a form of wealth redistribution from the rich to the poor. If we can't achieve that outcome legally, then the whole system is unethical, including the legal system.
  
  And we are that redistribution agent / greedy corporation watcher, to make sure wealth-equilibrium has received by the poor, for gain access what the rich only have. Thanks admin for further my vision and mission insight..
  
  There are alternatives, but people don't move to them, so they don't improve. I2P is a good alternative for torrent, but not many people want to move to it.
  
  They are improve.. but slowly for sure w/ different scale and purpose, like Tor or crypto. Tbh I'm still not using I2P, because I live in country that don't have strong regulation about digital piracy. Still enjoying and exploring the vast galaxy of torrent..
  But, it doesn't mean I will not use I2P. There's learning curve there to make it more secure according my own standard, but maybe next year will make it as daily usage.
  Of course today's I2P development still not reach "easy to use for the masses" stage yet, but.. like Tor network, or bitcoin, it will reach there surely in the long run. Because their environment design are very promising imho than other alternatives..
  Yes, there are good option than I2P w/ lil bit complexity in setup, but for "the masses" alternative.. I2P still the king I think.
- IMO it's important for pirates to stay up to date about things like DNS blocks etc so we can develop or implement workarounds as needed. For every story about some issue, the community will usually find a workaround pretty quickly. As you would have read recently, several of the major DNS players like Cloudflare, Google and Quad9 have all started enforcing court ordered DNS blocks on certain pirate streaming sites and indexers, because of repeated court cases against them by copyright holders and industry bodies.
  But we already have good workarounds for this, e.g., spinning up a docker container with pihole-unbound or similar for access to root DNS servers, bypassing the need for downstream DNS providers like Cloudflare. A big part of the value of this community is that (almost) every time a problem crops up, someone will be able to suggest a fix, and often there's already something available. Just use YouTube's campaign against ad blockers as an example. ublock Origin and FreeTube (for example) usually release patches within hours or at most a day or two after each new crackdown attempt by Google.
  Maybe we don't do a good enough job of showcasing this, but piracy is alive and well in 2024. Torrents have been around for decades at this point and are still going strong. Same for Usenet. Pirate streaming sites are comparatively easy pickings for law enforcement, but that's more of a game of whack-a-mole than anything else, as a new site will always turn up to replace whatever gets shut down.
  So yes, there's been a lot of shutdowns lately but it has barely affected the availability of pirated content overall. And with constantly improving tooling, like with the *arr stack of applications, piracy can now be automated and in many ways (i.e. functionality, not just pricing) provides a much better experience than most paid streaming services do.
- Wait, I thought "doom scrolling" meant scrolling endlessly until your demise. Not that you actually scroll on content about doom and gloom.
