Apparently they did this to the IOS version a few weeks ago and here we are, doing it on android too. "Play with friends".

Bedrock is terrible anyway and has Google's DRM malware. Use Pojav Launcher to play Minecraft on Android. I can share my control layout if you like as the default one isn't great.
I'd never heard of this before. Installed! Runs remarkably well and way better than bedrock garbage.
