Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy - Announcement Trailer (new Owlcat game)

New Owlcat game just got announced yesterday. You play as part of the Inquisition. Big bad seem to be Nightlords.

I heard the companions are fully voiced this time . Games gonna be turnbased again / some moral system but it will certainly take queues from Rogue Trader and build upon that.

Out of the companions we know so far we got an ogryn, a eldar, a kroot huntress, a catachan veteran and a medicae

  • Is the Rogue Trader DLC out yet? I was planning on finally starting over/finishing it lol

    • The 2nd Rogue Trader dlc Lex Imperialis is coming out 24th June

      • 2 more are announced in season pass

        • *Second season pass for an additional ~$30 lol

          @CliffordBigRedDog@hexbear.net got it spot on:

The best time to play owlcat game is 5 years after release

          • Im off 2 different minds on this. On the one hand I played Owlcats Pathfinder Kingmaker directly after release and got hardlocked out of the endgame. On the other hand I played Wrath of the Rightous around release and had a pretty good time.

With Rogue Trader I decided to wait since I wanted to play an Owlcat game in a great state for once. Will probably play it later this summer though after the 2nd dlc got some patches. . Im not gonna wait till 2027 when the enhanced version relases with all 4 dlcs.

Like seriously the game is potentially gonna be north of 150h with all 4 dlcs. I dont have tiem for that even if it sounds cool and like the definitve way to play it.

            • I got nearly 200 hours out of a single play through of the base game a few months ago, it's going to be a lot bigger than that with the DLCs.

Personally I've waited a couple of years on all of them - the releases are mixed, but they do a really good job of improving the game post launch in response to player feedback and mods. Kingmaker probably had the biggest change, with the entire turn based combat system being added in later after they bought a mod, but even Rogue Trader's had a fair amount of rebalancing in updates.

I wish people would make more 40 hour RPGs with divergent paths that encourage replay if you're hungry for more. Tyranny seemed to be a perfect example of this, but I don't think it sold well.

              • I actually agree with you. I love the idea of 30-40h RPGs but thats not the way the industry is going which is why I havent really touched JRPGs in ages. I dont wanna commit 100h to one of them.

                • I can do a 100hr RPG every now and then, but it's nearly impossible for me to replay one to see different stuff unless I'm coming back to it after 5-10 years lol

                  • Thats the thing. I did play through Pathfinder War of the Righteous but as you said I wont touch it again before 2030 I figure. (If I do)

          • Yeah, Rogue Trader was still fun just after but act 3 was a total mess and questlog was confusing as fuck. Then again, since then they nerfed all the fun builds and afaik each of 876 identical battles with Drukhari squads consist of painfully setting up combos using multiple skills to do anything.

There's always a point in owlcat games where it starts to suck and I just drop the difficulty down lol

              • It's not even that it is difficult, but it is tedious to build up elaborate strategy in every single skirmish. That should be for bosses or at most elites.

          • Jesus, now that they've got the 40k licence they're gonna milk it for all its worth

I guess if ur already spending hundreds on plastic toys and paint, 100 bucks for a 200 hour rpg is nothing

I don't know where they find the time lol.

Meanwhile, I wish Baldur's Gate 3 had expansion campaigns for sale like Neverwinter Nights lol
