Like seriously, the fuck makes you think I care if you think I'm an asshole? 800+ upvoted this post, all of those 800+ people were pretty objectively wrong to do so and demonstrated that they're completely unqualified to speak about foreign policy, so I'm not at all surprised to get ratio'd in the comments or get called an asshole for pointing out that they're wrong. Genuinely, could not care less what any of those 800+ people think of me, this community has clearly demonstrated its ignorance and I'm not going to pretend otherwise and pull punches just to farm upvotes.

Naturally, you will reach to any ridiculously generous interpretation to defend a member of your in-group against legitimate criticism by a member of of the outgroup. It's fully expected.
This line of "um, acktually, I didn't get them confused, I just meant something else" is something the other person came up with after I started attacking them for their blatant ignorance. When I first corrected them, their response was just to say "so what?" But there's no point in trying to reason with a BlueMAGA tribalist such as yourself.

Let me guess, OP "meant something else" too. Because you identify them as part of your tribe too, you'll look past all the inaccuracies in the post, you'll look past the fact that the person who wrote the tweet is a crypto grifter who has used the clout gained from bashing Trump on Twitter to promote crypto in association with far right groups, you'll look past everything, just so long as they show deference to the same gods and icons and cultural touchstones. Because fuck critical thinking, fuck independent thought, fuck reason or evidence, the important this is demonstrating loyalty.
This is the exact mentality that allows bullshit fake news stories to dominate right-wing spaces. The next time you wonder how they can believe what they do, how they don't see all the evidence to the contrary, just look in the mirror at how you respond to someone correcting objectively false garbage that supports your bias and preconceptions.
