I don't get why a such law took so long, but late is better than never.

TL;DR, a region of America became saner.
Now raise it to 21.
No, raise it to 25. That's the age when the decision-making centers of the brain are fully grown out.
my sister is RUSHING to get married before Republicans revoke same sex marriage
I got married the month Clarence Thomas threatened it
Why 21? Isn't 18 the age for everything (except alcohol for some reason)?
Idk, I just feel ageist today. Also, 18 year olds barely habe formed brains, and would be better off learning a thing or two.
It pains me to call 18 year olds "adult".
18yo's like any age group have a range of maturities. There are some very mature 18yo's, and some that need to develop more. I don't know what you mean about "barely habe formed brains."
If I still don't have a fully developed brain, what are the odds they do?
If everyone gets a "developed brain" (and I do think that's pseudoscience btw, but let's pretend) at a different time in their life, then you might not have one yet and some 18yo's might. How is this hard to understand? Do schools not teach the notion of a distribution anymore?
Oh I understand very well, I'm just ageist.
ageism is one of the most remarkable forms of bigotry to me. If bigotry is a weapon, ageism is a foot-gun. Upvote for admitting it 👍
To be fair, I'm semi-serious anyway. On one hand, I had experiences with people who are only around 18, just giving me awful advice because they have been feed YouTube garbage. I remember myself being a fool up to like 24 years of age, and then a slight fool up until now
I'm still a fool myself, but at least I know it. :)
You must admit that having lots of bad experiences with people who are 18 does not discount the mature people who are 18 though, right. Like, I agree, I've also had plenty of bad experiences with people age 18 who are very stupid. Less often but still sometimes much older people are stupid. But that's the nature of distributions. I have also known incredibly mature people who were just 15, and I think they are smarter and had their life on track better than I do now in my late 20s.
I was called wise at 16, got rapidly dumber with age
Neopuritanism loves to raise the age from adulthood to their new perceived adulthood of 21-25
Is this why I keep hearing that completely bogus theory that your brain is fully developed at the age of 25 exactly?
What's bogus about it?
If you google it, you will see a lot of refutations.
And in any case, suppose it were to be discovered that the brain continues "developing" (whatever that means) until the age of 60. Should we not afford full rights to those under 60?
Mine still isn't fully developed.
