Not endorsing child labor, but this would have been a great job for a whole bunch of kids. Just let out a few classes early, pull up in the school buses and let 50 of them compete to see who picks up the most.
Funny enough I was just reading a fantasy story with a mix of races building a city together.
Dryads talked to trees to relocate spirits.
Beavermen cut down all the trees with ease since spirits helped.
Dwarves got all the trees and made lumber / dwellings.
And the seemingly useless goblins were clearing the fields of leftovers/rocks so they had a prestine place to build dwellings.
So I pictured a horde of goblins cleaning up all the dimes at the headline.
Switching that over to children with the same energy and sounds fit hilariously.
Do you mind sharing the story? I'm trying to get back into reading more and it's easier with a recommendation than looking at thousands of titles and trying to choose one
Uhh... Its actually an adult book series. Wild Wastes read the blurb on book 1.
Thanks! It seems interesting. I don't mind a book that challenges my emotions
I don't endorse child labor either. But really isn't that what chores are? When I was very young, my parents gave me a nickel for every specific type of rock they wanted pulled out of the landscaping before they hauled it all away
Kiddos love tasks like that I think because they don't really have a grasp of larger concepts, smaller projects are very rewarding
Imo there's a difference between "a kid having a job": your 10 year old is helping on the farm, feeding the chickens, picking apples, etc.
And "child labour": your 10 year old Is working 10 hour days sewing sneakers for Nike.
This as a one time. you pick it, you can keep it kind of deal would be awesome for the kids.
Yeah for sure, kids “work” all the time and it’s good to teach them to help and pitch in and do a job right. I give my kid chores and so on, all good. About this picking up dimes thing, the kids would love it and all tell the story about how they helped out in the funny event from then on.
