In the Market for an Instant Camera — but want to save on Film

I’m looking into getting an instant camera. I was drawn to the Fujifilm Instax cameras but it looks like the instant film for it can come out to $2 a photo which is pretty expensive imo.

I want this to take small color photos for journaling/scrapbooking/logging and may need to take a lot of photos at once (i.e. logging results of glazes on a ton of test tiles).

Also I don’t really care if it’s true analog or a digital camera that just prints out, but it does need to be color.

Anyone have any good reccs?

  • Buy thermal print camera on Temu. Printing for free. It's crap, but results look cool sometimes.

    • Does it do color?

      • Not that I know, but you can buy a thermal camera (or just a BT enabled thermal printer that will work with your phone for cheap (20$ or less, and rolls of thermal papers can be found for cheap too almost anywhere. So it wouldn't cost much to give it a try.

Some kids are even sold with... markers to color the (crappy) B&W prints; not kidding. It's kinda cool and children/teens love it as well as silly adults like me ;) It's real cool to be able to share an instant print that cost peanuts, even if it's a crappy one

      • No, but it is surprisingly fun to do. Got one from Temu, they were trying to push me to finish my order, it costed something like $11. Same with the bluetooth printer with same printing system last year.

        • ah darn. For my purpose I need color unfortunately. Otherwise a thermal printer type thing would be perfect.
