I thought you weren't supposed to take pictures inside the DC Metro.
From a hillbilly from rural Ohio, the DC Metro is magic. Truly. I was in awe of it.
I could imagine that being the case, but I live in the area and I've never heard that.
Oh, I guess I was wrong about that.
I acquired that bit of faulty information a long time ago, so maybe it was different close after 9/11? Or it was just never really true in the first place?
It seems totally plausible. Maybe the rule existed at one time.
I rode the metro on 9/11, actually. "Fun" fact?
That had to be the grimmest public transportation ride in history.
I got on the train around when the plane hit the Pentagon. I'm amazed they hadn't shut it down yet.
Related to current events, and maybe you know this already -- after 9/11 they changed the allowed flight paths around National such that every inbound flight is basically doing a canyon run over the Potomac. I'm willing to bet that was a contributing factor to the recent crash.
I hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense. Thanks for pointing it out.
They do make a canyon run basically! It's interesting to watch.
I used to fly into National every two weeks, for about three years. Landing pattern was always a trip, 737 making real tight turns for a commercial airliner.
I don't recall if I've flown into DCA since then, but that sounds fun!
