- All I know is that unlike the destruction of the USSR, Russia getting couped to become another boring neoliberal hellhole, from the existing neoliberal hellhole it currently is, is no big loss either way.
  
  It will be to Russians though. Putin's Russia sucks but Yeltsin's Russia sucked a lot more.
  
  There's not much of a difference, Putin's Russia is a direct consequence of looking at Yeltsin's Russia and its subsequent foreign asset-stripping of vital state industries and services down to the copper wiring in the walls, and instead of thinking "We need to put a stop to it!", concluding that "It should be RUSSIAN billionaires doing the asset-stripping!".
  It's already faced a decade of shock therapy. Everything that was privatizable has been privatized. Heavy industrial concerns leftover from the USSR and privatized have been concentrated into conglomerates and monopolies run by the usual unaccountable billionaires. At this point, breaking them up might be beneficial if we're just gonna do capitalism again.
  
  Putin is no leftist but he did improve conditions for the Russian people, which is why he used to be so popular.
  I don't see a way in which a new leadership formed in order to capitulate to end the economic warfare, is not going to do full IMF looting of the country.
  
  Worse-case scenario, Russia is balkanized along ethnic lines.

  Even if civilian casualties are truly around 100, it’s still fuckload of people, it’s like hitting a small passenger jet (not that russia paid for that either, unfortunately)
  
  If anything, the Ukrainian fascist state and its neo-nazi Azov Battalion thugs need to be the ones paying reparations to the civilians of Donetsk and Luhansk, 14,000 of which were murdered by the Ukrainian state.

  Communism is literally banned in the Ukraine. If that doesn't speak fascism to you then nothing will.
  
  I don’t particularly care to define fascist state through their integration of ethno-nationalist thugs, as all states would fit right in there, including states buying football fans do beat up some leftists. Sure, they have outsized nazi presence, not the state itself though. At least, I think on class level america is closer to fascism than ukraine.
