Long story short: I just walked to Poland. It was a hellish 20-hour journey undertaken in the middle of winter with thousands of refugees. I saw some terrible things:

ukraine uses forced conscriptions.i've also seen pictures of ukranian soldiers who have surrendered and they really dont look like soldiers at all. one woman had a purple camo backpack.
